Seth is not a career politician, he’s a pediatrician who has dedicated his entire life to helping our most vulnerable.

Seth is not a career politician, he’s a pediatrician who has dedicated his entire life to helping our most vulnerable. Seth understands the issues that are important to everyday people, and he has the real-life experiences to fix them.

Healthcare is one of the most pressing issues we face as a society today. Whether it is COVID-19, mental health, addiction, or obesity. Seth is uniquely qualified to work towards resolving the underlying causes. Too often, we have people making decisions for us who don’t understand the issues themselves.  That has resulted in reactionary responses that offer a bandaid on a gushing wound, and consequences that hurt everyday people.

Seth graduated from Yale College with honors in biology and history of medicine. He then received a medical degree and a master’s in public health from Tulane School of Medicine.  Trained as a pediatrician and specialized in pediatric hematology/oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is also a scientist in childhood leukemia, with a funded lab for more than 30 years and more than 120 publications. Seth has been the recipient of two endowed professorships and has been at leading cancer centers in the United States before being recruited to Cleveland.

Seth is a second generation American, grateful for the opportunities afforded by United States. His grandparents fled the pogroms in Russia and rising anti-semitism in Germany.  After serving in the infantry in World War 2, his father went to college and medical school on the GI bill.  Seth’s dad became an obstetrician, serving everyone and delivering babies at Black hospitals in the South, His father was a Democrat precinct leader as well as a spokesman for women’s reproductive rights long before Roe v. Wade. Seth volunteered on a number of Democrat campaigns and is proud of his summer internship in Washington, DC. for Senator Lawton Chiles (D-FL).

Seth is proudest of his daughter Leah, a social worker and educator, his son Max, an attorney, and three free-spirited grandchildren (with a fourth on his way).

Seth will bring servant leadership to Washington, DC --- putting people before politics. As a doctor, Seth knows the only way he can help his patients and families is first by listening, and then thinking carefully.

Seth is no stranger to pressure. As a pediatric cancer doctor, he has to make life or death decisions and unlike those in Washington – he is accountable for them.

Seth will use his problem-solving skills, compassion, and experience to create solutions, instead of making excuses.
